Modalities

Brain Fit, Inc. is proud to offer such an innovative tool box of research supported modalities. These tools are taken from the fields of Child Development and Education, Kinesiology, Chinese Medicine, Behavioral Optometry, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Occupational Therapy. To meet clients where they are at any given moment, Brain Fit offers Developmental Movements to continue developing early motor patterns, Assisted Movements to gently unblock and nurture the body, and Active Movements to increase neuro-connections and whole brain access.

Brain Gym®

Brain Gym® is a movement-based, learning readiness program. The Program utilizes movement, self-awareness and goal setting activities. Using these skills, an individual is supported in noticing and changing ineffective patterns of learning, empowering them to integrate at a higher level. With this integration, improvements in attention, coordination, balance, comprehension, organization, and memory are seen. Frustration tolerance, coping abilities, and sleep patterns often also improve. Brain Gym® tools and concepts are used as a part of the Brain Fit Academy model.

When using Brain Gym® within the Brain Fit model, goals are individualized. Gentle encouragement and support is given to choose and set meaningful goals. Using a playful approach, self-awareness opportunities are used to notice what is working and what is not. A life skill for sure!

With a goal in mind and self-awareness in place, movement activities are then used to “re-organize” the nervous system to better enable us to move forward. Integration occurs on a physical, emotional and cognitive level, allowing us to maximize our potential.

Emotion Code

The Emotion Code is a simple healing tool, developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson. This system enables “trapped emotions” that may be at the root of challenges or discomfort to be released. Negative emotions can become trapped when one experiences or perceives an event they do not fully understand or process at the time of the event. This can happen very early in life, or recently. This negative emotional energy can remain within the body, causing stress in the nervous system and resulting in attentional, learning, and social struggles. In adulthood, we call this “emotional baggage”.

Children and adults often have trapped emotions. At Brain Fit Academy, we use this modality as a way to move forward without the need for extensive talk therapy. Using a biofeedback technique of muscle checking and a therapeutic magnetic roller on the back, these emotions can be quickly identified and released in a gentle, non-invasive manner. Once these emotions are released, the nervous system is left open and ready to grow and mature through natural movement activities.

Developmental Play

The easiest and quickest way to create connection and trust with children is through play — the kind of play that involves natural, joyful, interactive whole body movement. Although many adults think play is a waste of time, it is play that allows children to reach their highest potential. When children are faced with such challenges as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, or others, the best place to begin is with play. This in itself raises the vibration or energy level of the participants, which is essential in releasing lower vibrational patterns based in fear. Play and joyful connection offer the most beneficial opportunity to integrate stuck reflexes, thus getting to the core of a child’s challenge. (Taken from Heal the Child Program by Jon W. Bredal. We thank Jon Bredal for all his beautiful wisdom.)

The key to assisting children in moving beyond ineffective patterns is following their lead by giving them choice, safety and opportunity related to their learning. This concept reflects our Guiding Principles where: We trust the process; We trust our instincts; Our bodies instinctively know; and Being fully present and engaged yields deeper results.

At Brain Fit, brains get organized and families have fun!

Tapping

Tapping is a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues. Tapping operates on the premise that no matter what part of your life needs improvement, there are unresolved emotional issues in the way. This holds true for physical issues, chronic pain, or diagnosed conditions as well. It is common knowledge that any kind of emotional stress can impede the natural healing potential of the human body.

About 5,000 years ago, the Chinese discovered a complex system of energy circuits or channels called meridians that run throughout the body. These meridians are the centerpiece of Eastern health practices and form the basis for modern day acupuncture, acupressure, Emotion Code, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and a wide variety of other healing techniques. Tapping is thought of as “psychological acupuncture”.

A person’s energy flows through these meridian channels. With negative emotions, these channels become blocked. Tapping unblocks these channels allowing a free flow of energy and the ability for one to move forward. Tapping targets the energetic root cause of our struggles.

Tapping rewires the neurological brain. According to neuroscience, every memory you have is encoded with an emotional charge. This charge creates a neuropathway to signal an appropriate physiological response every time you are reminded of an experience relevant to that memory. Tapping interrupts that neural pathway, allowing us to rewire new positive pathways.

Tapping is easy, fast and yet powerful. Even a child can master it.

Rhythmic Movement

Like infant reflexes, Rhythmic Movements are based on natural, spontaneous baby movements. Stimulation from rhythmic movements in the first year of life is fundamental for the development and maturation of the brain. For many reasons, children may not get enough opportunities to do these rhythmic movements in infancy.

When there is not enough brain stimulation in infancy, it can result in a compromised ability to process sensory information and access the cortex. Access to the cortex is the basis for many skills such as focusing, control of impulses, managing the emotions, abstract thinking, learning, planning, making decisions and using foresight.

Rhythmic Movement Training (RTM) is one of the programs used at Brain Fit to guide our bodies to feel organized and at ease. Rhythmic movement brings emotional balance, ease of movement, and sensory integration.

Muscle Checking

Muscle Checking is a simple bio-feedback tool offering information about our subconscious. (Brainstem/Emotional Brain.) It offers information about the harmony or stress in the brain/body system.

Our subconscious mind is 90% of our intelligence. It archives and remembers everything we do, feel, see, eat, think etc.

Our muscles have three states of being: 1/3 is contracted and ready for action, 1/3 is relaxed and surveying the situation, and 1/3 is fluctuating between the two. This fluctuating piece is the one which gives us information in the Muscle Checking process.

There are many forms of muscle checking. The more popular methods are The Sway Check, The Ring Finger Check, The Energy Pendulum Check, and The Deltoid Check.

This Technique is a safe means of translating what the body already knows. It is helpful in assessing a person’s needs and is not meant as a diagnosis or medical treatment recommendation, although many doctors now use this technique to aid in directing treatment where the body needs it most.
