Our goal is to help you understand the special education process and identify your child’s unique needs, as well as assist you in being an effective advocate for your child. We are committed to helping you develop a collaborative and professional working relationship with your school’s team and ensuring your child’s needs are fully understood and appropriately addressed.

Our mission is for your child to have a positive, supportive school experience and reach their greatest potential. We can support  you from behind the scenes as you advocate for your child or stand by your side and advocate directly. Document Review (2 Hours)

Document Reviews are designed to help parents better understand the special education process and become more involved and impactful advocates for their children.

The Document Review includes:

  • Review of relevant documents such as your child’s current IEP, the most recent school and/or private evaluations of your child, and a summary of parent concerns (to be completed by parents)
  • Meeting with Educational Advocate (in person when able or over zoom) to discuss findings and help you determine next steps and action items for advocating for your child. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more in general about the special education process and their rights and responsibilities.

Advocacy Assistance (5 Hours)

Advocacy Assistance is designed to support you while you advocate for your child and help you navigate the complex special education system. This work can be done via phone, email, and/or in person meetings to educate and empower you as you advocate for your child.

Services may include:

  • Review of relevant documents such as your child’s current IEP, the most recent school and/or private evaluations of your child and other documents.
  • Understanding parent concerns and helping you convey them effectively to the school
  • Helping parents understand the special education process and your rights and responsibilities
  • Assisting parents in understanding evaluations conducted by school or private evaluators and Identify possible need for additional testing.
  • Based on where you are in the special ed process, helping identify next steps and action items to advocate for your child
  • Helping draft correspondence and emails to the school to further advocacy goals.
  • Assistance in preparing for IEP meetings so that you are prepared to advocate effectively for your child
  • Support with follow-up from IEP meetings and assistance with ongoing negotiations between parents and school
  • Assistance with monitoring the implementation of agreed upon services and supports for your child
  • Guidance on options and due process rights available when there is disagreement with the school over special education eligibility or appropriate services and supports for your child.

Direct Advocacy (7 Hours)

With direct advocacy our Educational Advocate will be by your side during IEP team meetings to help you clearly communicate your child’s needs and advocate for appropriate services, supports and placement.

Services may include all items listed under Advocacy Support (above) plus:

  • Attendance at IEP team meetings to assist you in advocating for your child.
  • Direct Communication with Team Members on parents’ behalf if there has been a breakdown in communication between school and parents.
  • Guidance and support in negotiating with the school and, when appropriate, assistance in pursuing due process rights available when there is disagreement with the school.
